Twitter Fiction

A spooky sound in the kitchen, I grab my paintball gun and went in to the kitchen and started shooting at the hamburglar

"pew pew pew" the boy screamed as he shot his imaginary star wars rifle. "Luke I am your father!" the boy said to the pet hamster

Cigarettes strengthens your lungs, alcohol makes you sober and sports helps you with gaining weight.

I think I'm a pretty funny being.People just don't understand my humor. Is it because I look scary? or is it because I have a gun in my hand

was bawling her eyes out on the porch one day until came to save the day with a ice cream come.

Heading for the open door, tell me which way to go. The light is what im attracted too. Rest in peace.

Thinking back...

Thinking Back!

Favorite Assignment: After re-joining the class near end of the year, I had an actual good time working on the buried life project. I liked the fact that I could think of anything I wanted to do before I die and put it on a piece of paper. It also took me back to memory lane when I went through all my pictures in search of photos that would go well with my items. Every picture in my slide show were all recent pictures that were taken within the year!
Least Favorite Assignment: My least favorite assignment by far was the twitter fiction. I can prove that it was my least favorite because I didn't even finish it... I started the assignment, got around half way in to my story and just got completely stumped. I'm taking a creative writing class but i'm just not creative at all when it comes to writing a story. I think its most likely because of my lack in reading fictional books.

Friday Reading: During my time in this class, I enjoyed the friday reading days because it was just a great way to end my week. Some quiet time on last class of the day before the weekend is always a good time. There was a good stretch where I forgot my book for a few friday's and that really harmed me because I did not read that week nor could I answer the reading response questions truthfully.

Written Reflection: I believe I kept up with all the weekly written reflections and i found it a good way to share my progress of the class thus far when writing it. It was one of the things I was able to do to when asked too because the questions asked was something we were all able to talk about and to give a honest opinion.

The Writer's Notebook: My writers notebook was not organized at all... This could be a reason in my lack of posting daily creates. If I were to take the course again, I would have defiantly bought and actual note book where i would be able to do the things asked by Mrs. Mclauchlin and not be restricted to having to mix up my creative writing notes and my chemistry notes. My organization was defiantly not there for this class.

Blogging: Blogging really isn't that bad... I was always intrigued by blogs because I visit a lot of music blogs regularly. I've always wanted to create my own music blog but I just never had the actual effort too. I tried a few posts to be like the other blogs but it just wasn't the same. During my last week of creative writing, I used my blog a lot just to share things that I did that day. Kind of like twitter but without a character restraint.

Tweeting: I never really had the chance to use twitter for this class. I do like to use twitter on regular basis. I also learned that there is a professional account and then a personal account. At the moment all my accounts are personal accounts and some of the content may not be suitable for employers and for school.

Intergration of Technology in the Class: I really enjoyed the technology in the class because it lets you do assignments when your not at school. Integrating Twitter and Instagram is pretty awesome because most of the students  have their own accounts and they already know how to use the program. Also having computers for most of the classes is a good convenient way of getting things done.

What I learned about myself as a reader, writer, thinker and creator: I learned that I like to read but only if something interests me. If it doesn't interests me, I tend to lose focus very easily. I really like to write in my own point of view, and i defiantly realized that i cannot write stories. I believe that i'm a good verbal story teller but then again.. that's my point of view. I know for a fact that I am not artistic at all, trying to make the newspaper blackout poetry some what pretty was complete fail.

Advice for Future Students: Stay organized!!! and keep up with the work load or else it will come back and bite you! Also use your blog like you would use your twitter or instagram. It's an actual fun course if you give it some effort.

Late Night Eats

Tonight is Thursday night and we decided we wanted some crepes! Turned out to be a bad idea.. One was under cooked and the other was over cooked... And then we got sick after (too much Nutella) We also embarrassed ourselves because we couldn't hear the lady yell our food order out... It wasn't out fault tho because she had a super thick accent. I don't even like kawaii crepe...

Senior memories #2: Senior Skip Day

After fashion show, there weren't many planned activities for all us to get together and have a good time. I guess they had the Seniors vs Teachers soft ball game which I was originally signed up for. I was actually soooo pumped for the game but both out dates were spoiled by a nice cloudy rainy day... We had planned the skip day for June 7th because if we did it any earlier, we would be "skipping" valuable class time and if we did it any later, it then would interfere with exams. Since student council had everything to go for the soft ball game but without a date... they ended up choosing June 7th which is the date for the senior skip day. Puzzling right?! Confusing everyone, it eventually all ended up being a good time for the seniors that attended softball and the seniors who decided to go to a beach. The whole point of a senior skip day is for all of us to get together and hangout. With the Soft ball interfering with the date, everyone knew that it wasn't going to happen for our grad class. We pretty much improvised the whole day, we set a time and place to meet up and whoever wanted to head out to grand beach did, whoever wanted to go to school and whoever wanted to do their own thing. For us who went to the beach, we ended up having 8 campsites at grand beach and the whole east beach to ourselves. By far the best "beach" day of my life but not the best camping experience.. We were all not prepared to actually camp, everyone brought tents and a sleeping bag but we were all running low on resources. Sharing bottles of water and fighting over the last camp fire hot dog. All in all it was a great time, and defiantly a memory in the books.

Senior Memories #1: Fashion Show

By far the best day of my senior year... From 8:30am till 5am it was a long day but surely a great one! The choreographers (Nathalie and Sydney) put sooo much time and effort in to truly creating a fun well thought out dance for our group. Fashion show was a great way to meet the fellow seniors that you haven't talked to before and actually become friends with people you didn't even know existed! As each practice we had, we began to be more comfortable with each other because most of us didn't know each other to begin with. Every practice became funnier and more exciting as we all started to bond! Once we all really clicked, the practices ended and it was show time! We danced the night away and had the greatest time of our lives. To all the fellow grade 11's... You are not too cool to dance, if you don't know how to dance... you will learn and most of all, if you get put in a "crappy" group.. Trust me, it won't matter in the end because it will be a solid out of this world experience. The celebratory aftermath is quite fun as well ;)

My wonderful evening

My brother invited over for dinner today but I was a little iffy on going because its the last week in high school and there is tons of homework for me to do. I ended up going but I also brought my homework along, and thankfully I did because i haven't seen this little rascal in forever. Currently at the moment I have my Mac on my belly working on my blog and a little Boston terrier snoring away in between my legs. The full belly and the warmth in between my legs is making me want to pass out... But then I think again.. Assignment cutoff is tomorrow! Time to get back to work!8

Now What?

Now What?

Obviously every single idea listed in my bucket list is something I really want to accomplish some time in my life... but nothing stands out to me more than "#12 Get in to pharmacy school" That is the profession I really want to do when I'm older and if I don't get accepted to pharmacy school.. I'm not sure what else I would do. One step at a time is how I'm going to approach this. 1st step is to get in to university... 2nd step is to take the University 1 program at the U of M and take all the pre-requisite classes in order to be eligible for acceptance in the faculty of pharmacy. The competition is extremely high as there are only 55 spots available with roughly 320 people applying each year. This gives me a 6% chance of accomplishing my goal. To increase my chances, my third step is to apply not only at the U of M but to all the other schools with a pharmacy faculty in Canada. All schools have high competition but applying else where would give me just a tiny bit more of a chance in getting in. This summer is meant for working full time, making some spending money for the university term and having fun because one tough grind will start in September and I am not going to give up until the goal has been achieved!

Authors Note

Author's Note

My name is Zachary Phung, and yes that is my full name. A lot of people ask me what my middle name is and I say, "I don't have one" My friends don’t believe me so they decided to name my middle name “Chow” I’m not a guy that takes offense to what my friends say about me but if you’re a stranger, I would most likely become a little ticked off. I like to live my life with ambition like the character “Chow” from the Hangover... just kidding, I could never be as bad ass as he is but many people say that I live life close to the edge. Which i guess is true but i feel that I’m smart enough to not actually go over the edge.  I find that there are just so many generic ideas in a bucket list such as “I want to go sky diving”... that is just something that doesn't stand out to me because its something that I would want to do... but not something I have to do before I die. No, its not because I’m scared but I feel that it doesn’t accomplish anything. Of course I have a few generic ideas in my bucket list but a lot of the ideas in my list really mean something in the vast future. My bucket consists of balancing fun and life at the same time. Wishing and hoping for the best in my personal life while doing things I have a passion about that would give me the most joy. My family members and friends say that my personality is on the soft side... Which I don't believe but at certain moments I can see it. I feel that I care a lot about the close ones in my life and the greatest feeling I believe in life is when you put a smile on their face. Through my list of 70 bucket list items, you might be able to get a hint of what kind of guy I really am. I love to have fun, but certain priorities come first!

Writing Reflection: Twitter Fiction

This twitter fiction assignment has been not that bad.  Its been a little challenging for me because I don't read fictions. I feel like I am a good story teller when I tell stories to my friends but ever since kindergartin I was never so great at creating a fictional story on paper. I'm half way done, but it really has been extremely hard to create for me. I will try to use the strategies learned in class such as all the different imageries we have learned. I chose to do a extended story as i feel this may be easier for my writing style.

Blog Creeps

COMMENT #1 http://ileanaohlsson.blogspot.ca/2013/04/scrooooge.html?showComment=1366215373592#c8479074020705049286

I actually really enjoyed this blog post by Ileana, because it is such a true post! There are just so many negative people out there that just don't at the funny pleasant side of things and therefore they are always grouchy! The woman in Ileana's post was probably around her mid twenties, and she obnoxiously states out loud that the music was "disgusting"... The only person that is digusting was herself! It blows my mind how some people can be so rude, just a huge pet peeve of mine.

COMMENT #2 http://kaitlynscwb.blogspot.ca/2013/04/places-ive-been-and-want-to-be.html#comment-form

I really like to travel, and if i was rich and had all the time in the world.. I would go country hopping rather than to stay content in one city. I've been to tons of places in my life, my parents spoiled me. We would usually go to multiple places in one trip. I've been to Los Angeles when I was just a baby so I don't  really remember it. Since then, I've been to countless road trips around Canada and the Minnesota Area. I've been to florida for a cruise where we visited many places in the Carribean. I went to Vietnam and Hong Kong to visit family when i was 10 and recently when I was in grade 10, we had a big group (10 people) go on a 21 day tour of China. So i've also visited the massive city's of, Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong for the second time in my life.. I can tell you that I think Hong Kong is the most beautiful city i have ever been too. Definitely a recommendation, and if i ever had a chance to live there.. I would pounce on that in heartbeat.

DAILY TUNE DISCOVERY #3

This song is by far my favorite song in the entire world. It's a song that will never get old for me and will never get old for fans of electronic house music. This song isn't necessarily a discovery as it is kind of a older song. The melody is iconic, very recognizable  mainly because of the rip off of this song that Flo-Rida did not too long ago. My volleyball team plays this song as the warm up song, The high school hockey team claimed it to be their anthem in the change room right before they head on the ice and I heard this song during the warm up of the only jets game ive ever been too.  This song will get people dancing in any occasion or at least head bobbing to the beat. Listen to the song and tell me you didn't do either or. It is just such a uplifting song that can bring my mood up any time of the day.

A Swedish house music DJ, took vocals of a very old Etta James song and created a very catchy tune. It is by the artist: AVICII and the song is called LEVELS.

Here is a link to the song where it can be streamed..

Writing Reflection: Newspaper Blackout Edition

I found the newspaper blackout assignment to be a little difficult. After reading some real blackout poetry, I thought this assignment was going to be super easy and that I was going to nail it with a masterpiece. I was wrong... It was tougher than I thought. The difficult part was creating something that actually had some sort of meaning to the poem. The hardest part was to create something called a "poem" These difficulties haunted me so I took a alternative route of the assignment. I recreated the story that was given to me. I based my poetry with the topic of  the "Winnipeg Jets" I took articles and blacked them out and created a mini story of something totally false in the NHL world. One story stating "Zach Bogosian" being on the opposite team and scoring a goal on his former teammate "Blake Wheeler" the apparent goalie for the Winnipeg Jets. I thought it was a clever black out "poem" others might not. It was a tough assignment but a fun one at least.

Weekly Reflection #4

Reading Reflection

The Cold Hard Truth on Men, Women and Money
Kevin O'Leary

Half way through the book and I start to get mixed feelings about it. How come? Because most of the problems Kevin  O'leary talks about does not relate to me at the moment. So far I have learned many valuable lessons for the future but none that I can really use at the moment. He always stresses out to always invest and that is the secret to being rich. You outta be a risk taker, and at the moment I don't have money to invest... I might not remember any of these lessons later on and will probably have to read the book once again.

Writing Reflection: 6 Word Memoir

- How did it go? Was it an "easy" or "hard" assignment? Why?
I found the assignment to be in between easy and hard. Mainly because gathering pictures was a little difficult and finding six words that flow and have a definite meaning was tough. I realized that 6 words can have more meaning then a full 15 word sentence. It doesn't matter how many words are used but the quality of the 6 words and how well it flows is what matters. By doing this assignment/project I faced challenges where I had to go a little out of my comfort zone. These words didn't come from out of nowhere because then it wouldn't mean much. But I believe these 6 word memoirs came from the heart and not just my heart, all the students that partake in this assignment as well. For a typical guy, we wouldn't be taking fancy photographic pictures and captioning it with heart warming truths. This assignment took me a little out of my comfort zone and it wasn't too bad!

Six Word Memoir #1

This is a picture of my brothers puppy. Her name is Maggie and she is a pure bred Boston Terrier.
A few weeks ago, me and my brother went out for lunch and we came home to ripped up pieces of foam all over the house. Turns out she was bored and decided to rip her pet bed apart! Well my brother was furious and started cussing at the poor thing, he then summoned her to the kennel and gave her a touche smack. The 6 words represent that you can yell scream and shout to your dog but it will always show love to its owner. The statement also backs up the famous phrase of "A dog is a man's best friend"The words in the picture are specific to Maggie but the message is mean't for all pets.

Life in 5 seconds

My life in 5 seconds drawing of the one and only Justin Bieber. It's only a quick summary of his career hence why I titled it "road to stardom Justin Bieber" First drawings represent Justin Bieber as a toddle talented with instruments, then he gets recognized by usher and appears as his mentor, just in Bieber with his hit song and all the ladies in the crowd with Bieber fever and finally reaching super stardom where he starts to date the hottest celeb... Selena Gomez

DAILY TUNE DISCOVERY #2

Brand new song from my favorite "rapper" not your typical lyrical genius rapper such as Jay z or Kanye. But a college student who loves producing music. Not your typical billboard song, Hoodie likes to keep his music off the radio and keeps it in the blogging music world.

Reading Response #1

Book: Cold Hard Truth on Men, Money, and Woman
Author: Kevin O'Leary

Page Read: 1 - 21

To become wealthy it doesn't mean you have to be wealthy to begin with. Kevin O'Leary explains that you don't need to be wealthy to become wealthy but using your money properly like Kevin's mother, is the "secret" to getting rich. I 100% agree with Kevin because he states that if you come from a rich family with a business or seniority within companies, it is much more likely their offspring's will succeed. But that doesn't mean the poor aren't allowed to get rich either. Kevin started from the bottom and worked his way to the top. That gives me motivation and confidence that one day I may be able to do the same. My family isn't poor nor are we rich but even with the extra cash my parents have saved up for me can go along way. Kevin stresses about investing, investing and investing because according to him that is the secret to becoming rich. Obviously investing can result in whole lot of good but also a whole lot of bad. In my mind it is just a more a classier way of gambling. Instead of spending $50-$90 at the casino, your spending thousands on something that won't pay you back for many years, and sometimes it will never pay you back. This is why I  believe life is full of risks and if you want to live life by the edge or just play it cool. The choice is yours but my mindset is defiantly to live by the edge and hopefully bad luck won't haunt me in my near future.

DAILY TUNE DISCOVERY #1

This is a song that I "loved" on Hype Machine a few months back and is still currently a tune I like to listen too. I believe this is under a indie pop/alternative genre. Top 40 radio songs aren't the only good trending songs.
Listen to Sweater Weather - The Neighbourhood http://hypem.com/item/1k29d via @uberhypeapp

Daily Create Feb 6th

A week ago I decided to pull everything out of my pockets and do a brief write up about what I had in my pockets.

In my pockets I found...
-Samsung Galaxy S3 Smart Phone
- Mazda car keys
- Co-op membership card
- House key
- 2 unknown keys
- Carmex Lip Balm
- Tommy Hilfiger leather wallet
- A receipt to superstore
- A receipt to chatters hair salon
- Pan am clinic waiting slip

Things I do not leave the home without:

Samsung Galaxy S3 Smart phone: Who doesn't leave the home without a cell phone? unless you don't have one then I feel a little sorry for you.

Key Chain: How would I lock the door behind me? How would I start my car so I can leave? and How would I build up equity from co-op if I don't have my membership card when I decide to go fill up with gas?

Carmex: I have a lip balm addiction to carmex. Its like a smoker who needs to smoke every few hours, but for me I don't need to step outside in the cold to do so.

Tommy Hilfiger Wallet: It holds cash, licenses, and many cards. You need your drivers license to drive or else its against the law! Everyone needs a little cash on them and who knows when your going to see a movie so the scene card is quite handy to earn some points!

Digital Front Print Sketch

We decided to do a sketch in class then past few days about what my digital footprint consisted of. I mainly use 4 social media websites. Twitter, Hype Machine, Instagram and occasionally Facebook. The one you may not recognize is "hype machine" It is a social media website for music where you click a "love" button if you like the song. Trying to explain the site as best as I can, it's like a mother blog, within many popular music blogs. This means it is usually brand new music, and sometimes a free legal way of getting music. It's based around twitter, so if you follow someone on twitter and that person has a hype machine account, you automatically start following them and you can see which "songs" they loved recently.

About me

My full name is Zachary Phung, yes I do not have a middle name, no I do not know why. I am a grade 12 student from Sturgeon Heights Collegiate and this is my senior year. I have many hobbies that usually keeps me busy as I do not like lounging at home. I am a setter for my high school volleyball team, I like to play recreational basketball with my friends and I really enjoy snowboarding once a week. During the summer months, I try to take advantage by being out doors all day. Biking, beaches, working, yard work and just hanging out with my good buds are my activities. Through this blog I would like to express the love I have for music. Since I do use my smart phone quite a bit, in connection I will try to share with "blogger" as much as I can so that this "school work" can become a daily routine where I wouldn't notice that I'm actually participating in class.
